USMC Casualty Assistance Calls Officer (CACO) Practice Test

The role of a Casualty Assistance Calls Officer (CACO) is critical in supporting families facing the loss of a loved one in the military. Offering continuous emotional and logistical support is essential because families often experience a wide range of emotions and practical challenges following a casualty. This support can include helping them navigate the various processes involved in obtaining benefits, funeral arrangements, and resources available for grief counseling or support groups.

Continuous support fosters a relationship of trust and reassurance, allowing families to feel cared for and understood during a profoundly difficult time. It is important for the CACO to maintain regular contact, check in on their well-being, and provide information that may assist them in this challenging period. This ongoing effort demonstrates compassion and ensures that families are not left to navigate their grief alone, which is vital for their emotional recovery and adaptation to their new reality.
